I’m Marien, a photographer based in Alsace, on the French-Swiss-German border triangle. Photography for me is split between digital and film — I shoot with a Fujifilm X100VI for everyday work and a Nikon F90 on Ilford HP5 when I want to slow down.

A few years ago I was a Lightroom user like most photographers. Then Adobe moved to a subscription model and I started looking for an alternative. I found Darktable — free, open source, and technically more powerful than I expected. The learning curve was real, but so was the payoff. I’ve been shooting and editing without a subscription ever since.

This blog exists because when I was learning Darktable, good written tutorials were hard to find. Most content assumed you already understood the workflow, or was written for an older version. I wanted to build the resource I wished had existed — practical, up to date, and written specifically for photographers coming from Lightroom.
